We are an interdenominational community, grounded in love and grace.

Okemos Community Church was formed by a merger between two congregations of different denominations in 1929 and has ever since been committed to an ecumenical spirit while also maintaining a connection to the United Methodist Church. We celebrate God's inclusive love and welcome everyone to full participation in the church, including in baptism, communion, and church leadership. Together, we support one another in community, we grow in faith, and we put our faith in action through service.

Ecumenical Spirit

As an interdenominational church, we value the insights that come from the diversity of the Christian faith across denominations. We partner with other churches in our community and strive to lessen the lines that divide us.

Love & Grace

We embrace a theology that is based in love and filled with grace, which means embodying compassion and actively practicing forgiveness rather than judgement.

Service & Mission

We believe that putting our faith into action is part of living faithfully. We seek to help the vulnerable and strive for social justice and mercy, with an emphasis on the common good for all humankind and all creation.

We believe learning can draw us closer to God. We encourage continuous learning at every age and stage of life, welcome the honest naming of doubts, and invite questions of every sort.
